Dance Documentation

Since 2015 I have been working for the project IDOCDE as a videographer. The symposium IDOCDE is hosted at ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival and addresses dance teachers and everyone who is interested in a dialogue about dance, documentation of artistic process and possibilities of dance and movement in this world.

The edited videos are condensing workshops and lectures of 2-3h into 6-10 minutes and offer a further exchange of the content on the online platform

Surprise yourself! 5 teachers, 6 essentials

5 teachers share six essential things that they thought should happen in a dance class. Every class of this series has a very unique flavour, and by the nature of the score, is somewhat unpredictable. Expect a wild ride and a physical class – with developments, shifts, transformations, sometimes a little rough around the edges…it might bring you back to the roots to why you actually started to dance! This format was developed in the LEAP teaching residencies and applied at the professional morning trainings at the Tanzhaus Zürich and Le Pacifique | CDC Grenoble in 2014.

With: Kerstin Kussmaul, Anne Garrigues, Sabina Holzer, Simon Wehrli, Kira Kirsch.

The Underscore

The Underscore is a long-form dance improvisation structure developed by Nancy Stark Smith. It has been evolving since 1990 and is practiced all over the globe. The Underscore is a vehicle for incorporating Contact Improvisation into a broader arena of improvisational dance practice; for developing greater ease dancing in spherical space—alone and with others; and for integrating kinesthetic and compositional concerns while improvising.

Facilitated by Nancy Stark Smith with live music by Mike Vargas.

Sex & Space

A lecture and interactive discussion by David Bloom focusing on the integration of conscious sexuality practices such as Tantra and BDSM into contemporary dance education and the questions they bring up in that context.
